David has been working with swimming pools since he was 13 years old, when he used to help his parents Peter and Maria who had a pool building business at the time. He is now the proud owner of Ipswich Pool and Spa Centre, which has been operating since 1975 – it was Ipswich’s very first pool shop.
Ipswich Pool and Spa Centre is a family owned-business located in East Ipswich that is known for their quick service and knowledgeable staff. We’re always happy to have a chat and answer any questions you might have about your pool and we pride ourselves on being able to solve all of your pool problems – if we can’t fix it ourselves, then we know someone who can!
One Stop Shop – We are your one stop shop for everything pool-related, from equipment and accessories through to safety inspections, servicing and even pool decking! Click here for more information.
Prompt, Reliable Service – We have two mobile servicemen and are usually able to get someone out to your property the next business day for emergency repairs.
Onsite Parking – We are easy to find and have plenty of parking.
Free Pool Advice – We are always happy to have a chat about your pool and offer advice where we can. Check out our FAQs page.
At Ipswich Pool and Spa Centre, we still do water testing ‘the old fashioned way’ using chemicals because it allows us to adjust the result to the individual specifications of your pool, such as whether it is concrete, tiled or fibreglass as well as taking into account the Ipswich climate. This is something that computing systems are not calibrated to do – they offer a generic result that may not be suitable for your swimming pool.
If you have built a new pool or are thinking of building a new pool and you want to check that everything is right, book an appointment with David to bring in your plans and he will look over them and advise you on any questions that you might have.
Some of the things that David can help advise on are:
Pool Filter Size: If you are uncertain about what the correct sized filter for your pool is, David will be able to help you. Recently, in order to keep the costs of the pool build down, there have been a lot above ground pools being built with filters that are too small. The filters end up breaking within 12 months and need to be replaced.
Pool Location: Proximity to things like down pipes and overhanging trees can make your pool more susceptible to being overcome by algae and going green. If you have a few different location options and are not sure what the best one is, just ask David.
Running Costs: If you are still in the consideration stage of deciding whether or not to build a pool, and would like a rough idea of how much a pool will cost you to run and maintain, drop in and have a chat with David. With over 35 years experience working in the pool industry he will be able to give you a pretty good idea.
